About this Meetup

Hi,
It seems alot of people are unclear about what this group is about and what its goals are.

I am trying to REDUCE the number of wild cats living in colonies...by having them desexed so that they cannot reproduce, grow in number and hopefully maybe one day..there will be no wild/stray/homeless cats in brisbane.
Obviously i am an animal lover, i have two cats myself.......and i hate the thought of any animal going without a home, suffering, starving...not to mention the threat of falling vicitim to animal cruelty.

I DO NOT BELIEVE ANY WILD/HOMELESS/STRAY CAT SHOULD BE PUT DOWN JUST BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE TOO IRRESPONSIBLE TO DESEX THERE PETS OR BECAUSE SOME IDIOT HAS DUMPED THEIR CAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So by using the trap-nueter-return method we can help reduce the numbers of stray cats...without having to harm any.
Obviously any kittens or younger cats that are caught and that can be rehomed, will be found foster homes, i know there is hope for some, as i have rescued two already, one an 8week old kitten which was totally wild when caught, but is now the most loving and friendly, affectionate kitten in the world. totally tame. and another young cat which i caught at about 4months old is coming around, she is taking time to be trusting but i know i have saved her too, and now hopefully can be rehomed.

There has been times I have caught older cats...one female i caught was maybe 1-2 years old. she was breeding in the wild, was completely feral!! she would hiss like crazy and there was no way on earth she could be tamed. she has lived too long in the wild. i got her desexed and kept her safe until she recovered and although i would have loved to seen her find an owner it simply was not possible. she was a feral. so i got her desexed and took her back to live her life out.......she gets fed daily by a local.....along with about another 30 strays living in that area. AT LEAST SHE WONT BE ADDING TO THE POPULATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHY SHOULD SHE BE PUT DOWN...IF THERE ARE PEOPLE LIKE ME WHO CARE AND WANT TO DO SOMETHING TO STOP THIS....SHE DOESNT DESERVE TO DIE ....BUT SHE ALSO SHOULDNT BE HAVING ANY MORE KITTENS.

This is something i am extremely passionate about. I am sick and tired of stupid people thinking they have a better idea...or what about the wildlife.....what about pets??? you dont think they catch birds??? these strays are getting a feed from the local....it wont stop them from catching birds....but no cat can be. its in there nature.

So, if you say you are a cat/animal lover, then why dont you do something about this.
or is it better to just let these cats keep on breeding and 'killing birds' which some of you are so concerned about, and then they can go and have 5 litters a season and teach those kittens to be wild too.

RSPCA is not interested. RSPCA will not trap wild cats. RSPCA asks that they are caught and brought to them to be put down.
What I am doing is not illegal, i have called them and asked. What i am doing is an extremely compassionate and caring thing, something that neither the government nor RSPCA will do.
No animal deserves to die, or live in the wild.
